Electrical Design Engineer 

Our client is an SME technology based company with a significant knowledge base in thin film deposition and surface modification. They offer a comprehensive range of equipment targeted at development, laboratory, and production applications.

Role and Responsibilities

Design–Electrical Circuits & Cabinet Layouts

• Working to customer/national specification (European, USA and Asia).

• Produce technical drawings (Solid Works Electrical).

• Electrical Schematic Diagrams.

• General Cabinet Layout Arrangement.

• Control panel design.

• Items Lists/Bill of Materials.

• Cabinet enclosure, bracketry, etc. (through liaison with mechanical design).

• Cabinet label details.

• Additional production drawings/documents (wiring schedules).

Project Documents (Word, Excel, SolidWorks Etc.)

• Cabinet design calculations.

• Component Dissipated Heat/Power Calculation; required cooling/heating.

• Arc flash calculations.

• Design Power Consumption.

• As Built’ drawings (post FAT equipment).

• Produce Test Certificates for tested equipment.

• CE/UKCA Declaration of Conformity (in collaboration with consultants).

Equipment FAT Testing (Factory Acceptance Testing)

• Product FAT document (Inspection & Test Schedule).

• Undertake the FAT on completed equipment.

• Undertake customer witness testing.

• Complete & Review Inspection Plan.

Requirements:

• BSc/MSc in Electrical Engineering of equivalent.

• Proven experience in designing electrical control panels for industrial applications.

• At least three years industrial experience.

• Familiarity with electrical safety standards, eg BS 7671, EN 60204, EN 12100, IEC 61610 etc.

• Proficiency in industry-standard design software (e.g., SolidWorks Electrical or similar).

• Strong knowledge of electrical components, power supplies, motor drives, LT and HT power supplies, and sensors.

• Experience with RF (Radio Frequency) power assembles an advantage.

• Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEC, UL).

• Solid understanding of electrical principles, circuitry, and control systems.

• Commercially aware and financially literate.

• High computer literacy with advanced numerical and analytical skills, to manage multiple data sets and drive insights.

• Outstanding attention to detail and able to recall large volumes of data.

• Able to plan, prioritise and manage a sometimes heavy workload appropriately.
